We had ten days left in our first home… Liam wanted to take a shower like daddy, because of course, big boys don’t take baths… they take showers!
This post is a week late and I have this week’s glimpse coming, but I had to share this. One of our favorite local restaurants is right around the corner… La Hacienda, or as we call it “La Ha!” I am pretty sure generations have dined there serenaded by the same karaoke man. Don’t get me wrong, if you are looking for the best Mexican food in town, this is not your spot. But if mamma is looking for the perfect margarita night where floor spills are welcome and dancing toddlers allow for a hot meal to be eaten… I give it two thumbs up. You are bound to run into one or two or ten families that you know and certainly a few classmates which is the ultimate recipe for Friday night fun! This past week, we reserved a front seat along with several of Liam’s best buddies from school (we happen to be pretty fond of their parents as well!). And when it came time to line up to sing the Barney song.. you know the one with the “great big hug and a kiss from me to you”… it resembled a bit of American Idol, toddler style. The kids totally loved it… and us parents, “we loved it too!”

Not afraid of center stage. You really captured his confidence.
When Chic Critique announced their latest contest, Photography Idol… I was intrigued. What an amazing opportunity for one photographer. As I thought about it more and more, I started to ask the question as to why that photographer couldn’t be me? And so, I decide to put myself out there. I decided to enter the contest myself and just see where this might take me.
The First Step: To submit an image that best represents my style and skill. I think what I love most about photography and my clients are those little memories captured that you absolutely never want to forget. Its the emotion behind the moment that inspires me as a photographer. I just cannot get enough of those tiny little toes that kick up in the air while she takes her bottle, or the special first bond of a father and son as he blows raspberries on his tummy. I love watching the magic of a ring-around-the-roses game as little curls fly through the air, all the love behind a child’s kiss to their mother’s cheek, and every single moment in between. It’s a little sister’s secret and a fit of giggles that makes me absolutely love what I do.
So very proud of you and excited for you! This is my very favorite photo…at least of the photos that don’t include our precious grandson. 😉 I may be biased (ok, I AM biased, I know…)but I think you’ve got a great shot at this. You are one talented and engaging photographer. A key combination, because even if you know how to capture the moment technically, you can’t capture those moments without creating the environment for them to happen. I vote Kate Robinson for Photography Idol…hand’s down!
Beautiful pic! I love you and I am SO proud of you. Can’t wait to see where your talent takes us.
You have so many beautiful photographs I can see why you would have a hard time deciding which photo to submit! It’s very difficult to be subjective about your own work of art and this is definitely…A Work of Art! A judge will “know it when they see it” Sometimes they don’t even really know what they are looking for! Just keep putting it out there! xoxo
This week we celebrated a huge milestone for our daddy because he turned the Big 3-0! I love the three months in which I get to say that my husband is older than me! Because we are preparing to move, we didn’t have an over-the-top bash or amazing trip somewhere special. I promise to make this birthday up to my sweet hubby… he certainly deserves a huge celebration. He has a lot to show for thirty… adding his latest accomplishment of weighing what he did at 16! Super Guard is BACK ladies.
Given the choice of any cake, he takes the yellow boxed Duncan Hines with milk chocolate frosting everytime. PIECE OF CAKE. or maybe he just knows that my name is not Liz and therefore silk chocolate pie is not an option! The boxed cake is so easy… a toddler can do it! Thanks Ellen.
Don’t forget to head on over to the chic critique forum and leave some love for the other glimpses!
Happy Birthday to the best son ever. Loved our family time this weekend!
The cake was delicious! Thanks for the great work Mommy and L.
We are preparing for a big move at our house and everyone is chipping in to prepare! Typical Sunday afternoon yardwork in progress… don’t you blow leaves in your underwear? check out the glimpses project on the chic critique forum!
